VARIETAL AND BLEND DESCRIPTIONS

CENTRAL & SOUTH AMERICA -

COLOMBIA SUPREMO (Huila region) -
One of the most widely known and enjoyed coffees in the world. These beans come from the rich soils of the elevated Huila region. Slightly different characteristics than the Popayan region. The beans roast up very uniformly. Each cup will be rich, with moderate acidity, excellent body and balance.

COLOMBIA SUPREMO (Popoyan region)- These beans come from the rich soils of the elevated Popoyan region. This varietal has similar characteristics to the Huila region Supremo. Full-bodied, moderate acidity, and perfect balance. Makes a very flavorful, smooth, and aromatic cup.
BRAZIL CERRADO - Like the other Brazilians, this Cerrado is dry processed, but has a higher cupping result. These high quality beans come from the highlands of Minas Gerais, and since they are also a natural, or dry processed bean, it produces a sweeter and milder cup due to a lower acid level. Excellent for your base in an Italian Espresso.

GUATEMALA ANTIGUA SHB - (Finca La Tacita Estate)
"Genuine Antigua". A high altitude, strictly hard bean. This award winning mountain/shade grown coffee is legendary in flavor with perfect balance. Some actually state that if they had but one coffee, this would be it. Moderately acidic, mild, smooth, aromatic, moderate in flavor with some chocholate notes.

EL SALVADOR DIAMANTE' FANCY (SHG) - El Salvador produced some outstanding coffees this season. We personally sampled this DIAMANTE' FANCY and found it had true characteristics of a fine Central American, with excellent flavor, exceptional aroma along with a nice balance of acidy and body. If you favor the Central American varietals you will appreciate this strictly high grown coffee.

PANAMA BOQUETE SHB - (Mountain grown / Chiriqui Province)- Like a fine white wine, mellow, delicate flavor, somewhat spicy, a true delight to the taste. Like the Supremo, a city to full city roast brings out the full flavor and fragrance of the bean.
COSTA RICA TARRAZU - (Don Roberto estate SHB)
One of the finest grown coffees in the tarrazu region. With just the right amount of tropical acidity, the rich soil of tarrazu produces a coffee of tremendously unique qualities. Medium acidity, full body, and rich aroma. Grown at an altitude of 4,200 to 5,900 ft. A strictly hard bean. This year's crop cupped very well.

MEXICO COATEPEC SHG - A medium body, nicely balanced, flavorful cup with good aromatics.

THE ISLANDS -

JAMAICA BLUE MOUNTAIN - (Mavis Bank Coffee Factory)

Unique level of characteristic flavor, which is a slight blueberry fruitiness with an excellent body that lingers on the palate. Mavis Bank is the oldest of the coffee 'companies' on the island offering these exceptional coffee beans.

HAWAII KONA FANCY - (Greenwell farms / estate)
From the southwest side on big island of Hawaii comes the superlative cherries that produce one of the most sought after coffees in the world. Excellent weather and rich volcanic soils help develope a fragrant cup of medium bodied, smooth flavor with just the right amount of acidity. Processed at the highly respected Greenwell farms.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Brews up a cup full of flavor and aroma. Low acidity, fruity, yet a spicy taste that pleasantly lingers.

SUMATRA MANDHELING - This is a low acid, very full-bodied bean. Having chocolate notes and a slight earthiness. May be used in an Espresso blend, to add body to any blend, or very good by itself.

INDIA -

MONSOONED MALABAR AA -
A very unique and distinct coffee. Earthy, somewhat musty, due to the Monsooning process. The beans should be properly 'rested' 2 or 3 days after roasting in order to mellow out. Primarily used in Espresso blends to add special characteristics. However, some love this one as a unique drinking coffee.

THE AFRICANS -

ETHIOPIA YIRGACHEFFE -
Among the finest of the African beans. Perfectly acidic, nicely spicy, with great aroma. Fruity undertones and a hint of earthiness, wineyness. Remarkable full bodied flavor.

ZIMBABWE AA + (Salimba estate/farm) - Like many of the other Africans, this varietal has complex, exotic, fruity undertones accompanied by a nicely balanced acidity and body. Grown in the elevated volcanic soils of the Chipinga region, this coffee produces a very bold, flavorful, distinct cup with excellent aroma and good finish. A deep 'City' to 'Full City' brings out the best notes and characteristics of this bean.

KENYA-AA FANCY (Gazelle) - This is a slightly better grade than KENYA-AA. Certainly one of the most distinctive coffees we offer. Thought by many to be one of the finest gourmet coffees in the world. From the rich high altitude soils of Kenya comes this special taste and aroma. An acidic cup, full-bodied, complex, with outstanding flavors. This could become your favorite cup.

ETHIOPIA HARAR - This is another popular favorite. Like the other African beans this bean is remarkably full of delicious complex flavors and aroma. Low acidity, nicely sweet, winy, nuty, and slightly spicy. A very satisfying cup.

TANZANIA PEABERRY (Mazao) - This coffee is very pleasing to the senses, with good acidity in the medium range. Nice balance, very aromatic, and when roasted to a deep "City" level, the true characteristics of the bean are perceived.

UGANDA BUGISHU AA - This fine Arabica coffee is grown on the elevated Western slopes of Mount Elgon adjacent to the border of Kenya. A major export of Uganda, these beans are very labor intensive to produce. Having some similarities to Kenya AA, with fruity notes, balanced acidity and body, and earthy undertones. A very distinct and interesting cup.

THE BLENDS -

HAWAIIAN KONA BLEND -
This Kona blend is very smooth, balanced, fragrant, slightly spicey, and has a very good finish. This blend is very satisfiing to the demanding coffee lover.

KISUMU (premium African blend)- From the special climate and rich soils of Africa come some of the most distinctively flavored coffee beans in the world. This special blend is extremely flavorful, full-bodied, and has a very pleasing aroma.

MOCHA JAVA - After extensive blending, roasting, and cupping we have developed a wonderful Mocha Java. The earthiness of the Sumatra blended with the Ethiopians produces a lush, full-bodied aroma. The low acid of the Indonesian bean is balanced with the relatively higher acidity of the Harar. We feel you will really enjoy this gourmet treat.

BRUNO FESTA signature blend - This is our signature house blend. A special blend of sweet Indonesian, full-bodied Sumatran, and other quality Arabica beans selected to acceive certain qualities that meld in a union noted for aroma, taste, and rich flavor. Very smooth, aromatic, balanced, and flavorful. This is a great 'all day' coffee.

FRENCH ROAST blend - For those who especially love the dark roast, we now offer this special blend of fine Arabica beans, full-bodied, low acidity, and superbly roasted to a French level.

LA DOLCE VITA espresso ("The sweet life")- You will surely notice the smoothness of this blend from your very first extraction. Based on sweet, dry processed Indonesian and Brazilian beans, then blended with other fine, dry and wet processed beans to give you a very satisfying shot of espresso with good crema, slight chocolate, sweet and aromatic.

LA MISCELA espresso ("THE blend")- Our inhouse blend uses only the finest Arabica beans. Espresso captures the total essence of these remarkable beans. Many espresso drinkers (if not all) like to make milk based drinks from their shots occasionally. This fine blend, based on a dry processed Brazilian, is designed to retain a full explosion of coffee essence when used in lattes, cappuccino, etc. Also, the blend has been sweetened with lower acid beans, and selected ones to produce a very rich, aromatic crema.
